Railway Shelters

Indian Railways operates the world's fourth-largest rail network — over 68,000 route kilometres, 7,000 stations, and more than 13 million passengers a day. Every metre of that network requires physical infrastructure: passenger waiting shelters on platforms, maintenance buildings at locomotive sheds and carriage depots, trackside cabins for signalling and telecommunications equipment, and level crossing gate lodges. Poojary Prefab supplies factory-built prefab shelters to this infrastructure — engineered to Indian Railways specifications, weather-rated for all climate zones, and delivered faster than any site-built alternative.

Our railway shelters are not generic porta cabins rebranded for railway use. They are purpose-designed prefab structures engineered to meet Indian Railways' published structural specifications for platform shelters, maintenance buildings, and trackside enclosures. Structural framing is designed to IS 800:2007 with IS 875 Part 3 wind loading for the relevant railway zone — from cyclone-exposed coastal lines to high-altitude mountain railways with snow loads. Cladding options include PPGI steel sheet, galvanised steel, and GFRP (glass fibre reinforced plastic) for coastal and high-corrosion environments.

We have supplied railway shelters to contractors working on Indian Railways electrification projects, station redevelopment programmes, new line construction, and metro rail projects. Every unit is factory-assembled and dispatched as a complete structural module, requiring only anchor bolt fixing and service connections on site — minimising track possession requirements and reducing installation time from days to hours. Platform Passenger Shelter

Covered waiting shelters for railway platforms — from simple lean-to canopy units to fully enclosed waiting rooms with seating, lighting, and signage provisions. Standard widths 3m–6m; custom lengths. Steel or GFRP roofing and cladding. Compatible with Indian Railways platform shelter specifications.

Trackside Equipment Shelter

Compact weatherproof enclosures for signalling relay interlocking panels, telecoms cabinets, power supply equipment, axle counters, and trackside instrumentation. IP54 minimum protection, anti-condensation provisions, forced ventilation, and security locking. Available in standard IR cabinet-room module sizes.

Maintenance Yard Building

Mid-span structures for locomotive shed maintenance support buildings, carriage washing facilities, staff welfare blocks, and tool stores. Wider spans 10–30m for maintenance access; EOT crane provisions available for heavy-lift maintenance support.

Level Crossing Lodge / Gate Cabin

Compact level crossing gate lodges and signalling cabins for manned level crossings — robust, weather-resistant structures with good visual sight lines, adequate working space, and statutory welfare provisions for gatekeepers. Designed to IR level crossing infrastructure specifications.

All-Zone Weather Resistance

Designed to IS 875 Part 3 wind loading for all Indian climate zones — Very Severe Wind Zone for coastal railway lines, snow loading for mountain railways, and cyclone-exposure provisions for IR coastal corridors. GFRP cladding eliminates corrosion in sea-spray and tropical humid environments.

IR Specification Compatible

Platform shelter structures, trackside equipment cabins, and maintenance buildings are designed compatible with published Indian Railways and RDSO structural specifications. Documentation is provided in a format suitable for Railway Board and Divisional Engineer review and approval.

Track Possession-Free Installation

Railway infrastructure timelines are constrained by track possession windows — the brief shutdowns during which trackside work can be performed. Our factory-built shelters install by anchor bolt in hours, not days, minimising track possession requirements and the operational disruption to train services.

Seismic Compliant — All Zones

IS 1893:2016 seismic design for all Indian seismic zones, including Zone V applications for Northeast India mountain railways and the Himalayan rail corridor. Structural documentation provided for Railway Engineer review.
